Zippaport Teddy Bears .... coming soon!

Each Zippaport Teddy Bear will come with a Zippaport shirt and have their port accessed with a butterfly needle (with the needle removed, of course!). These 14″ bears are INCREDIBLY soft and cuddly and are so perfect for snuggling!

 Why are we doing this? Medical play is a therapeutic approach that helps kids during medical procedures. It gives kids a chance to prepare for procedures, role play and develop important coping mechanisms. Zippaport Teddy Bears are intended to support this approach and be used by hospital teams to make port accesses easier for kids.

 

We’re thrilled to announce that 300 Zippaport Teddy Bears will be distributed to kids with Cancer through hospitals across Canada in September 2025.

A limited number of bears are available here on our website. We also have a limited number of teddy bear tshirt kits (bear sized Zippaport shirt + butterfly needle + Tegarderm) available here on our website.

We're looking for help!

We’re looking for some volunteers to help us get the teddy bears ready for distibution! We’ve separated the opportunities into 3 separate “events”, which will be held at Zippaport HQ in the east end of Toronto. Each event will last 1-2 hours, depending on how long it takes us to complete the tasks! Let us know you’re coming by signing up here. 

Bow Removal 
  • What does this mean? The teddy bears come with a ribbon bow sewn onto their necks that interfere with the Zippaport shirt, so we want to remove them. We’ll carefully snip the bows off all the teddy bears.
  • When? Thursday, July 31 at 7pm
  • Tools needed: Sharp scissors and/or a stitch ripper
Butterfly Needle and Tegaderm Application
  • What does this mean? We’ll be affixing the butterfly needles to each teddy bear with a Tegaderm sticker.
  • When? Tuesday, August 26 at 7pm
  • Tools needed: none!
Bear Dressing and Packing
  • What does this mean? We’ll dress the teddy bears in their t-shirts and package them in boxes for distribution to hospitals
  • When? Monday, September 8 at 7pm
  • Tools needed: none!
